s. ap architects is a growing architecture office with a hard-working team, working at the intersection of creativity, technology and science.


The founder - architect Arnhildur Pálmadóttir has 20 years of extensive experience in architectural design as well as work experience from engineering firms in Iceland and Norway. At the studio the multilayered nature of each project is investigated and its context to other elements. Regardless of location each project will be affected and have effect in a multitude of ways – socially, environmentally and as part of the timeline. The studio becomes a professional expert for the client when taking on a project. Making sure that all its complex threads run in an efficient way and within the time frame required. Ultimately s. ap architects strive to be thought-provoking, original and have a positive impact on the world.

General architectural design and concept work in different scales – interior, exterior, landscape and planning.

Extended experience of project management in large projects, design management and coordination of all design phases.

Advanced experience in BIM software integration and design for small to large scale projects.About the sap BIM process

Experience in sustainable design and building methods, based on the BREAAM system.

Research and writing including reports for municipalities and the cultural heritage agency of Iceland (Minjastofnun) regarding old Icelandic houses and building traditions.

Teaching and development work related to design, technology and innovation as well as experimenting with microcomputers and programming.

Hotel Geysir – collaboration

Hotel Geysir is a project Arnhildur Pálmadóttir collaborated on with Akkur Arkitektar.  The hotel building is located beside the world famous Geysir in Haukadalur and opened in 2019 with 77 rooms, including 6 suites. Large windows in the main lobby frame a magnificent view of Geysir and the surrounding area. The 3rd phase building is already open with restaurants and a bar in full activity. In that part of the building new walls and windows surround an existing old school building that was used for sports activities like the Icleandic glíma but has now a new role inside the new building. The roof of the old building extends up to a rooftop terrace with an amazing view over the area.
